Managing tax compliance for Canadian freight just got easier.

MVMNT TMS now offers automatic tax calculation for Canadian loads. The GST/PST/QST/HST rates are pulled based on the destination province and added to the customer charges. They also appear on a new vendor invoice from either Canada Revenue Agency or Revenu Quebec.

No spreadsheets. No guesswork. Just accurate, real-time tax logic built into every load

One Click to Calculate Canadian Freight Tax

When booking an inter-Canadian load, brokers can now click “Calculate Tax” from the Financials tab to apply applicable tax rates.

This enhancement automatically:

  • Detects whether the load qualifies for Canadian tax
  • Applies the correct tax codes based on province (GST/PST/QST/HST)
  • Populates those rates into the financial summary
  • Creates a vendor pay to the Canada Revenue Agency or other relevant authority

Fully Integrated Vendor Tracking

Once tax is applied, MVMNT doesn’t just display it—it automates the backend.

You’ll see:

  • Tax line items on the Customer and Services tabs
  • The appropriate vendor created for tracking payments
  • All charges reflected in your shipment financials
  • The ability to invoice and record tax payments directly from your TMS

Why This Matters for Freight Brokers

Canadian tax rules vary widely by province—and getting them wrong can cost you time and money. This update helps brokers:

  • Stay compliant across GST, PST, QST, and HST
  • Eliminate manual tax calculation and data entry
  • Standardize tax handling across inter-Canadian freight
  • Reduce back-office workload with automated vendor management
  • Keep your Canadian freight audit-ready

Whether you’re shipping across Quebec, Alberta, or BC, this new feature ensures your team stays accurate and efficient

Live and Ready to Use
There’s nothing to configure—this feature is already live for brokers running loads in Canada. If you move freight across provinces, all you need to do is hit “Calculate Tax”.
